I mentioned on Monday that I had been on a Christmas performance kick last week. Three nights of fantastic shows all culminated with A Christmas Story at the Rose Theater. The movie is one of my all-time favorites, and the musical was just as fun!
From the Red Ryder BB Gun…
to Schwartz getting his tongue stuck…
to that infamous “major award”…
and Ralphie’s pink bunny suit…
ALL of the iconic Christmas Story moments are there!
The actors were wonderful. I was totally blown away by Danny Denenberg who played Ralphie. He was an amazing performer! Sometimes when I’m at The Rose I forget I’m watching kids from our very own community!
Randy is probably my favorite character though (“I can’t put my arms down!”). Maybe it’s because I’m the second child too – we just relate ;)
A Christmas Story Mad Lib
I was inspired by A Christmas Story to create a fun activity for you to do with your kiddos at home! Don’t worry, you won’t have to write a theme for Miss Shields. Instead you’ll be writing a silly Mad Lib about “What I want for Christmas” all while practicing parts of speech. See, fun AND educational :)

Make sure to review parts of speech with your child before beginning this activity. If you need to brush up yourself, here’s a great resource!
See the show!
